Shifty
Business in PowerPoint
Are you an MS PowerPoint
user who frequently uses the Slide Master or Handout Master?
What about the Set
Up Show window? Now, I know you've got to be using that one!
Are you tired of all
the menu searching you have to do to get where you need to be?
Some of you may have
solved your problem by adding more buttons to your already crowded program
window. This method certainly works, but wouldn't it be nice if a faster
access to these things already existed?
Well, here's the good
news: the quick access you're looking for (without the extra buttons displayed)
does exist. That is, if you know where to look.
Are you familiar with
your handy dandy little button friends in the bottom left of the window
that quickly switch you between the Normal View, Slide Sorter and running
the slide show?

Well, our answer lies
here within these three little buttons.
Unknown to many people,
these buttons have a dual purpose. Each one, when used in conjunction
with the Shift key, will give you a different result.
- Shift +
Normal View button opens the Slide Master.
- Shift +
Slide Sorter button opens the Handout Master.
- Shift +
Slide Show button opens the Set Up Show window.
And as if that's not
enough, for those of you who do prefer the menus, there's a quick way
to access the Handouts Master, Set Up Show window and the Notes Master
with just a quick click.
The trick is, yet
again, found in the Shift key.
Here's the usual View
menu:

Here's the View menu
while holding down the Shift key:

See the difference?
It brings an instant
access to items that otherwise would be accessed through submenus. It's
probably not a huge timesaver, but when you consider how often you access
these things, the time can add up.
Who knew the Shift
key could have so many uses?!
