Coming
Soon: Vista SP 1
If you recall, back
in May, we ran an article on whether or not Microsoft was going to release
a Service Pack for Windows Vista (you can read that tip here).
At that time, we knew a SP 1 was in the works, but there was no other
information available about it. Plus, we had no idea when it would actually
be released. Well, I promised to keep you updated on this and that's exactly
what I intend to do! Since then, things have changed a little. Let's check
it out!
As of right now, it
looks like the Vista SP 1 will be released sometime during the second
half of the year, with it likely being in October or November of 2007.
Although Microsoft has already made calls to other companies asking them
to test the new SP 1 and give them feedback on it, they are still keeping
a specific release date quiet. But don't panic, because asking for feedback
is always a good sign when it comes to new security features. That means
it's well on its way to being released!
Now, while there is
some news about the release date, there really hasn't been anything else
said about the features that will be included with the SP 1. It seems
like Microsoft is keeping all of this as much of a secret as they can,
but have no fear, I will continue to keep you updated on this whole situation.
I know a lot of you have been waiting for this Service Pack to become
available before you upgrade to Windows Vista and that's perfectly fine.
If you haven't upgraded yet, it's probably best to just keep on waiting.
The SP 1 will be here soon and like I said, I will keep you posted!
