Welcome to the Braille Bug Web site. This is where you and your kids can learn all about braille. The very first link on the page will allow you to change the colors you view the page in. Your other options are Black Text/White Background, White Text/Black Background, Yellow Text/Black Background or the Default colors. I think the site is easier to read in the Black Text/White Background option, but choose what you want!

What is Braille? - The first thing I want to mention about this page is that if you fill out the information fields at the bottom of the page, you can get a free Braille Bug alphabet card. This section breaks down into five categories: Deciphering the Code, Trivia, Braille Technology, Printable Braille Card and Louis Braille Biography.

These sections not only explain how you read braille, but they also give you interesting facts about braille and its creator. I loved the technology section as well, because it was interesting to me that you can find special equipment that works with braille alone.

Games and Secret Messages – Here you can make learning braille fun. Find out how to spell your name in braille or answer trivia questions. If you get stuck, you can decode the braille for the right answer or even play with the puzzles. Plus, there’s even a secret message you can decode!

Louis Braille – If you didn’t check out his biography while you were in the “What is Braille?” section, you can do so now.

Helen Keller Kids Museum Online – This section could be a cool site in its own right! Learn all about Helen Keller here, from her childhood to adulthood and learn how she was a champion of the blind.
