Tip #4187 - Moving Backwards
Printer Friendly Version | E-Mail This Tip
Moving
Backwards
Ever find yourself
about to hit the Enter key in MS Excel and realize
you need to move up a cell to fix something?
What did you do?
Most people go
ahead and use the Enter key and then use the arrow keys (or mouse)
to move back to the cell above.
This works, but
doesn't it seem like there should be a more efficient way? Well, as
expected, there is!
Next time you're
in this predicament, try Shift + Enter instead of
the plain old Enter.
You'll find that
your data is safely in the cell, but the selection is moved up instead
of down. (If you've used the Options window to change the direction
Enter sends the cell selection, you'll find that Shift + Enter
moves it in the opposite direction).
Two tasks with
one key combination. Don't you just love efficiency?!
