Opera
Security Update
If
you're a big Opera user, you've probably been wondering when a new update
would be available, right? As I'm sure all of you know, it has been
awhile since Opera has made any changes (the last update was back in
August 2007). But alas, your wait is now over! On October 17, 2007,
the Opera team released a new version of the popular Web browser, now
titled Opera 9.24. Along with it comes a couple important
security updates that all Opera users should take advantage of right
away. Please keep reading for all the details!
Now,
the security updates I'm going to talk about may not seem very dramatic
to you, but they are things that could affect your browsing experience,
so it's really important that you pay attention to them. The first security
issue dealt with an arbitrary code that could harm external newsgroup
clients and e-mail applications. Before it was fixed, Opera was running
those types of programs incorrectly, which caused some major flaws.
The second issue had to do with scripts that were overwriting certain
functions on Web pages from other domains. If this wasn't taken care
of, it could really limit what you're able to do when browsing the Web.
Like
I said earlier, the new version of Opera is now available for download
and as you can see from the paragraph above, it is a must have. If you
don't upgrade to the new version of Opera soon, you're putting yourself
at high risk of being hit by the two security flaws we've discussed
today. So, to download Opera 9.24 right now, all you have to do is click
here. Just choose the language
you want it to be in and then click on the big green button that says
Download Opera. Then just follow the directions and
you'll be all set. It only takes a couple seconds to keep your computer
secure, so what are you waiting for? Make your Opera safe today!
