Coming
Soon: Firefox 2.0.0.9
If
you're a huge fan of the Firefox Web browser, you may have already heard
about this, but just in case you haven't, I'm here to fill you in! If
you recall, it's only been a couple weeks since the Mozilla company
released a new 2.0.0.8 version of Firefox to address
a couple security issues that popped up in the previous version. Well,
come to find out, the changes made to v2.0.0.8 just didn't cut it, because
a plan has already been put in place for a 2.0.0.9
release. Yes, you read that right! I tell no lie. So, once the shock
wears off, please feel free to finish reading this tip and find out
what's really going on!
After
just a few days of using Firefox 2.0.0.8, a few problems started to
creep up and Mozilla was able to determine that some of the new patches
caused regressions on a few other platforms. As soon as that was discovered,
the Mozilla team went to work to fix those problems and that is why
a new 2.0.0.9 version will be released soon. There really isn't a whole
lot of information out right now about the problems that occurred, but
I can tell you they lie within five different bugs. So, if you've been
having some trouble with your Firefox browser the last couple of weeks,
you now know why!
At
this time, I don't have an official release date for the 2.0.0.9 version,
but as soon as I find out, you all will know too! All I know right now
is that Mozilla did some testing on the new version this past Friday
(October 26, 2007), so they must be winding things down. It's usually
a good sign when they start testing the new releases. Now, I know you
may feel vulnerable right now, but this is something we're all just
going to have to wait out. If you can, use an alternate Web browser
until all of this is cleared up. I know Mozilla is working very hard
to get this new release out to the public, so it should only be a matter
of days. Just hang tight and all will be well again soon!
