Tip #4422 - à, é, ì, ø and ñ?

à,
é, ì, ø and ñ?
Do you have a
frequent need for characters with accents, such as ñ, à
or maybe the little gem of ø?
Without a doubt,
some of you use the Insert menu, Symbol method.
That's not a bad
choice. I mean, you have to jump through some "hoops," but
it gets the job done.
Some of you may have even
assigned shortcut keys to the one(s) you use most frequently.
But, if you do
that, you've got all those extra key combinations to memorize.
Hmm.
What about this
for a solution?
Let's learn how
to create them from your keyboard, without assigning a bunch of shortcuts.
That is, let's learn how to build them from what we already know.
Sounds good to me!
Here's the deal
for creating your own accented letters, without the use of menus or
memorized shortcuts:
1.) Use the Ctrl
key + the accent you want to add.
2.) Release
the keys.
3.) Type
the letter the accent should be with.
For example, to
create ñ, use Ctrl + Shift + ~, release the keys and then touch
the n key.
To create é,
use Ctrl + ' (apostrophe), release the keys and then hit the e key.
Well, you get
the idea!
The basic formula
is to use the Ctrl key with the accent that needs to be applied and
then use the letter it goes with.
With the Ctrl
key and the accent you need, you can create symbols from "scratch,"
with no extra time spent in menus and other windows required. Oh yeah!
