Vista
SP1: What's New?
Yes,
you read that right! Today is the day you've all been waiting for. According
to all the e-mails and phone calls I've gotten in the last couple of
weeks about the new Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista, you all are getting
a little anxious about its release. I won't lie, I'm excited about it
too, but even though I've been checking up on it everyday, I haven't
been able to find much information on it. That is, until now. I was
able to find bits and pieces of new information about the Vista SP1,
so if you're interested, keep reading for the latest scoop!
Now,
before I say anything else, I want to make it clear that all of the
information I was able to find is, in a way, based on a rumor. Basically,
Microsoft has not given the final word on when the SP1 will officially
be released, so everyone else is starting to guess. What's being said
gives the rest of us a little more hope though that it will be sooner
than later! Several online publications are saying the Vista SP1 will
be released on February 15, 2008. And while that date is not unlikely,
Microsoft is still only saying it will be out during the first quarter
of the year. Either way, that means the finished product should be released
within the next month or so.
As
of right now, the SP1 RC (Release Candidate) is still making its rounds
and there's word that Microsoft won't do anything else until they're
sure there are no problems with that. It seems as if the RC is a strong
release though, so there shouldn't be too many problems with it. Therefore,
not much else should be holding the final release back. Several Microsoft
partners have said they expect it to be out soon as well. So, while
I can't give you an exact release date, at least you know it is getting
closer. And as always, I will continue to keep you updated on any Vista
SP1 news that comes my way. Hang in there, my Vista friends!
