Security Warnings
I know
we here at WorldStart have brought you several Firefox tips in the past
and while we've covered a wide range of topics, I ran into something
the other day that we have never gone over. Now, I'm a huge Firefox
fan and even though I use it religiously, I have never noticed this
feature before. I figured some of you might be in the same boat, so
I wanted to take care of this right away. So, if you're up for another
Firefox feature that you can put to good use, listen up. This one's
a must read!
As you may recall
from a previous tip, I went over all of the basic security features
the Firefox Web browser has to offer. But I must not have paid close
enough attention, because I missed a very important one. If you go to
Tools, Options and click on the Security
icon, there's a section at the very bottom of that box titled Warning
Messages. With that, you can choose which warning messages
you want to pop up while you're surfing the Web. Wow, who knew?! To
see your choices, just click on the Settings button.
You'll
see five options there, each with its own checkbox. They are: "I
am about to view an encrypted page," "I am about to view a
page that uses low-grade encryption," "I leave an encrypted
page for one that isn't encrypted," "I submit information
that's not encrypted" and "I'm about to view an encrypted
page that contains some unencrypted information." Simply checkmark
the warnings you want to see and then click OK. The
warnings you receive while using Firefox are completely up to you. Your
safety is in your own hands and I don't know about you, but I wouldn't
want it any other way!
