Windows
Updates for March 2008
It's
that time of the month again! Yep, the Windows Updates for March 2008
were released on Tuesday, March 11 and if you haven't installed them
yet, you need to get busy! Just like every month, these updates are
very important for the safety of your computer. If you don't get them
soon, you're really going to be missing out on some heavy duty protection.
So, without further ado, let's check out what Microsoft brought us this
time!
There
are four main updates for March and all of them are rated "critical."
All four of them deal with the same issue as well, which is a possible
remote code execution. What's that, you ask? Well, it means a hacker
has the ability to gain access to an infected computer and completely
take over control. The four programs affected by this are Microsoft
Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office as a whole and Microsoft
Office Web Components. So, if you use any of those programs on a regular
basis, you'll definitely want to install the patches right away.
Of
course, if you don't have any of the MS Office programs on your computer,
you don't have much to worry about this month. However, there are a
few other non-security patches you will need to get. There are two updates
for Microsoft Update and Windows Server Update Services, there are three
for Windows Update and there is an updated version of the Microsoft
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool. Again, if you haven't installed
these updates yet, I urge you to do so soon. By doing that, we can all
stay safe together!
