Chatterous
Social networking
is something that has become a part of everyday life. Whether you’re
keeping track of your friends, family members or even co-workers,
wouldn’t it be nice to be able to send all of them a message
at the same time, regardless of which service they prefer? Well, now
you can with Chatterous! You can use your existing e-mail address,
instant messenger or even your cell phone to keep in touch all from
one place.
So, how does it
work? Well, you start by registering and creating a chat group. Signing
up is easy to do. You need to create a username, password and fill
in your name so that your friends will recognize the name on their
group invitation. Once you’ve filled out all the fields, click
on the Sign Up button.
Now, to get started,
all you have to do is click on the Create Group button near the top
of the page. That opens up a creation window. You then need to name
your group, which will automatically fill in the nickname field as
well. Below the fields, you’ll see the contact information for
your group: an e-mail address, Jabber/Google Talk and a text address
for a cell phone. Click on the Create Group button below those and
you’ll be taken to the next step.
Next, you can
add or invite your friends to join your group! You can do that by
providing your e-mail address and password and then choosing people
from your contacts list. They don’t keep that information on
file, but if you feel it's too risky, you can add your friends' e-mail
addresses by hand in the field below it.
If you’ve
registered, you will also get information on how to invite your friends
via the Web, e-mail, Jabber/Google Talk or by phone. Once your friends
have joined, you can post a message on their page or from your e-mail
address, phone or instant messenger. Pretty cool, huh?!
Now, the instant
messaging feature is only compatible with Jabber or Google Talk right
now, but they are looking to add more services in the near future,
such as Twitter, MSN and AIM.
If you run into
any problems, I recommend their FAQ section. You can find the link
to that at the bottom of the page. It discusses the service through
all three ways you can use it, as well as, some general FAQs.
So, what are you
waiting for? Start chatting with your friends and family today!
