Older versions
of Windows had the MS-DOS prompt conveniently
located in the programs file. For some reason, Windows 2000, XP,
Vista and 7 buried it in Accessories and renamed
it "Command Prompt". So, how do we get there from here?
Simple!
To
get a DOS prompt in Windows 2000, XP, Vista or 7, you can go the
long way...
Start>Programs>Accessories,
and select " Command Prompt ", or you can simply
go to Start , Run , type in
"CMD" and click OK . Vista is
just the same: Go to the search bar and type in CMD.

There you have it, your long lost
friend, waiting for your command, and although there aren't many
programs that use it these days, it's nice to know it still
exists!

#1 : Getting quickly to Run in Windows
- On most keyboards there is a "Windows" key between the "Alt" and "Ctrl" keys. Just push the "Windows" key then touch the R key. You are now able to type in CMD or MSCONFIG or whatever you need to do in the Run window. Much faster than getting to Run any other way in most Windows OS. Written By: Apoet2
#2 : how to get out of the dos prompt window
- just type EXIT at the dos prompt and hit enter the window will close. Written By: benny
