Here's a quick shortcut for anyone
who's found themselves acting like a telegraph operator on their
backspace key. You know what I'm talking about. You've just
finished a line of text, it doesn't look right, so you want to
delete the whole line.
“Ratta-tatta-ratta-ratta”, and your finger
falls off...
There's a better way! Simply put
your cursor at the beginning of the line you want to delete and
press Shift+End. This will cause the whole line to
be selected, and all you have to do after that is press
delete or backspace to finish the
job! The best part is that because your cursor is already at the
beginning of the line, all you have to do is type!
Deletion, simplified!

#1 : Shift plus End
- Shift plus any of the directional keys (arrows, home, page up, page down, and end) will all highlight that particular unit of text, making deleting or assigning attributes nice and easy from the keyboard. Written By: Lou Smith
#2 : deletion
- That tip works great but you still have to move the cursor after typing the line you want to delete when all you really have to do is leave the cursor at the end of the line , where you finished typing , and press "shift + home" it highlights the line , now delete it and still your cursor is right where you need to start retyping! and you've saved a step. #3 : shift+end+X
- You can use this technique to copy a line of text rather than just deleting it. Then you can paste the line somewhere else. This is especially helpful when you are creating a list and you need to move a line up or down in your list. The Shift+End technique is also helpful when you want to select a line and change the format of that line -- different font, different color, etc... This is simply a good technique to keep close at hand -- or at finger tip. Written By: Vic-E-toria
