The other day we
looked at customizing and saving templates in MS Word. I'm sure
that by now there's a few of you out there who are wondering what
can be done in Excel.
In fact, I'd even
bet that some of you have gone looking through your Template window
looking for the Create New Template option. Too bad it didn't work
out, huh?
Well, maybe it's not
too bad. Just because it doesn't work exactly the same way, doesn't
mean that it can't be done. And done quite efficiently at
that.
So, let's get right
to business.
First, go ahead and
open a file from a current template. (File menu,
New choice, click the General Templates link on the
Task Pane or for Excel 2007 it's the Office
Button, New choice).
Once you've accessed
the correct template, make the changes to suit your needs.
At this point,
you're ready to save it. Go to the File menu / Office
Button, Save As choice.
In the Save As
window, change the file type to Template / Excel
Template.
Excel will navigate
to the correct location.
Name your
template something useful and click Save
There you have it.
Excel's templates tweaked as easily as Word's!
