In response to our article on a quick keyboard shortcut to make a line in Word, a reader named John had some additional tips. “Thanks so much for all your tips through the years! I finally have something I can add. Today you told about the Word Tip, typing three dashes to get a solid line across the page. Works fine. If you type three underscores, you can get a thicker line. And if you type three equals signs, you get a double line! Hope you can use this!”

Hit the enter key and you have a thick line for the entire line.
Type three equal signs and hit enter for a double line.
