Is there a way to turn off tabbed browsing? Every time I close a Tab I have to reload the page.
Sure, John – if you’re using Internet Explorer, then yes, there is a way!
Click on the gear in the upper right-hand corner and select Internet Options.

Make sure you’re on the General tab, and next to the Tabs field, click Settings.
Now, just un-check Enable tabbed browsing and click OK at the bottom.

You’re all set – no more tabbed browsing in IE. You can always re-follow these steps and put a check back in if you want to restore this function.

Was wondering about that myself – now I know!
You might have wanted to specify you were talking about IE 9. For IE 8 click either the Tools menu or the button labeled Tools on the “Command Bar”. After that it is the same.
Am I missing something? Why close the tab if you still want the page you’re on?
If tabbed browsing is turned off don’t you have to close the whole IE program instead of just closing a tab?
But then I don’t understand a lot of what computers do now.
Mike I am with on wondering what John from LA was really talking about with the whole “close a tab”, “reload the page” stuff. However for me I would say: But then I don’t understand a lot of what computer “users” do now.
