Ever find yourself faced with multiple sets of data in MS Excel?
Did you decide that you wanted them charted together and yet with different types of data representation?
For example, maybe you’d like to see one set of data in a line graph and the other with bars?
If this is your preference then you might be happily surprised to find that you can accomplish this goal – to have a multi-type chart – with just a couple of clicks beyond the creation of your original, single-type chart.
- To begin you need to create a chart with both sets of data as usual.
(Yes I know, that creates the chart with both sets in the same graphic form but we’re about to change that.)
- To change the chart type for only one set of data you must click on one data series in the chart (the actual bars, etc…).
- With the one data series still selected you need to choose a different chart type from the chart toolbar (or Ribbon).
These steps should change this:
into something like this:
Voila! Two chart types in one.
