USAid Earthquake & Tsunami Relief

The Asian Earthquake and resulting tsunami is being called the worst disaster of our time. To find out who was affected, check out the section “Current Situation”. This tells you not only who was affected by the Earthquake and Tsunami but also the International Response to the situation.

Before scrolling much further down the page I’d like you to notice the blue box that says “How Can I Help?” In this box you will find a legitimate link to a list of “Relief Organizations Working in the Disaster Area”, you can also check out the “USAID Guide to Effective Giving/Volunteer Information” and the Center for International Disaster Information. If you want to help those who are suffering from the disaster, I really suggest you read all the information provided in the “Guide to Giving/Volunteer Information”.

If you scroll down the page you will find a section called “Background”. This section tells you the facts of what happened as well as provides and graph with map to show you the scale of the effects.

Also of note are the two .PDF files at the top of the page. One is a Fact Sheet, and the other is a Map of Relief Activities. At the top of the page there is also a red box with some interesting links in it: USAID Disaster Assistance, Statement from the White House, USGS Earthquake Information, Relief Web, just to name a few.

This is a very helpful site to those who want to give but don’t know how. And lets those of us who can’t afford to give know what’s going on.
