Yesterday, I told you about my problem with using animated GIFs in Facebook Messenger. Well, I’ve got a similar issue with stickers and emoji. Emoji are icons designed to indicate an emotion in an electronic communication like an e-mail, text or chat message.
The most basic of emoji would be the simple typed smiley face made with a colon and a right parentheses symbol.
A smiley face was necessary because when you’re joking or trying to be sarcastic in electronic communication, it’s sometimes hard to tell. A smiley face can prevent a lot of hard feelings.
From that simple beginning, a whole world of stickers, emoticons/emoji emerged. Almost to the point where people sometimes seem to be communicating entirely in symbols.
Emojis can add color and fun to your messaging. And now there are thousands of them to choose from. Let’s check out what’s available for Facebook Messenger. You can add emoji to message created on your browser or in your Facebook Messenger App. First, create a new message. Then click the emoji icon. Here’s what it looks like on a browser.
This is what you’ll see using the Messenger app.
This window will open.
At the top of the window, you’ll see your recently used emoticons and stickers and some of the most popular styles.
Below that you’ll see categories to browse. Just click on a category to see what it has to offer.
Here are some of the offerings under Working. Just click the image to add it to your message.
You can also search for the perfect sticker by typing in the search box.
If you are using the browser and want to stick with the basic “old-school” emoticons, just click the arrow at the top of the stickers window.
Click the + icon to get more stickers in the sticker store.
You’ll find what seems like an endless supply of options. Just use the scroll bar to explore if you’re using a browser. In the app, simply swipe down.
