We all know that a lot of people don’t seem to ever put their phones down. So how much time are smartphone owners spending with their apps? According to a study by Nielsen, around 37.5 hours every single month. That’s right, almost 2 full days a month using apps.
That’s a jump from 23 hours to 37.5 hours in just 2 years. They’re using a variety of apps, too. The average user accesses around 28 different apps per month, but that number has stayed flat. People tend to stick with their favorites. More than 70% of app usage comes from the top 200 apps.
Men use slightly more apps than women, but women spend a little more time using the apps. Time spent on apps per month was higher for minority groups. On average African-Americans spent nearly 43 hours per month on apps, Hispanics 41.5 hours, Asian-Americans 37.14 and non-Hispanic Whites spent 35.25 hours using apps.
Entertainment was the most popular category for apps and the most popular apps for that category are gaming, followed by music, video, sports and eReaders.
