Can you tell me a little about video conferencing?
That’s a very interesting question and I’ve never really had anyone ask that before. I surely can give you some information on video conferencing and by the end, you may be not be able to hold yourself back from using it! Basically, video conferencing is a new technology that connects users through video and voice communications. Sound interesting? If so, read on!
With video conferencing, you can see and hear the other person you’re talking to and it makes you feel like you’re in the same room with them. How cool is that?! So, if you live far away from one of your children or from a good friend, you both can use video conferencing to see and hear each other like never before. Forget about just hearing their voice over the phone or just seeing them on a Webcam. See and hear them all at the same time!
To be able to have a video conference, each user has to have a computer, a Webcam, a microphone and it is best to have a broadband Internet connection. Keep in mind that the faster your Internet connection, the better the conference will turn out, because the high bandwidth is necessary for the streaming of your voices and the video. With all of these devices, you can have video conferences to your heart’s content. It’s a simple way to tune into each other’s lives when it’s not possible to actually be together.
Another use of video conferencing is for the educational and business groups of the world. Businesses are starting to use video conferencing for various projects. If one requires a lot of traveling, they can save time and money by just bringing the people together virtually, instead of face to face. Also, many universities have started using video conferencing for online courses as a way for the students to keep in better touch with their professors.
Video conferencing is still being ironed out in the computer world today, but it is developing faster and faster each day and it’s becoming much more popular with computer users. As long as video and voice capture technology, the software needed for it and display technologies continue to advance, video conferencing will be much more common in various areas of the world. Everyone will want to try it and before we know it, it will be a well known thing in all of our homes. There’s endless possibilities of what this communication technology could bring.
Video conferencing is different with various computers and it depends on what you have and what the person you’re going to be talking to has, in terms of devices. Some require that both of you have the same equipment, while others don’t. You may be able to find some information about video conferencing in your computer’s manual, but to learn more about it and get hooked up for it, you may need to talk to the manufacturer of your computer or to a computer store professional for additional help.
