Vista: Hibernation Sound Issue

Here’s a quick one for you!

Have you been having trouble with your sound being disabled in Windows Vista after you wake your computer up from hibernation? If so, you’re in luck, because Microsoft has an easy hotfix for that issue. Let’s check it out!

If you’re experiencing this problem, you’ve probably noticed a red X on the volume icon in your system tray. Plus, when you hover over the icon, you see a message that says “No Audio Output Device is Installed.”

To fix the issue, you’ll need to install a hotfix from Microsoft, which is available via this link: 937077 (its description is “a high definition audio device may no longer work after you resume Windows Vista from hibernation or from sleep”).

Once you install the hotfix, you’ll be in sound heaven once again. Hope this helps!
