Bert from SC asks:
I was reading an article the other day and it mentioned my “OS.” If I have one, I don’t know what it is or where I put it. Can you explain “OS” to us?
You’re gonna laugh, Bert – this is an easy one.
“OS” is short for “Operating System.” Windows is an “OS,” as is Linux and Mac OS X. Whatever flavor you enjoy, they all do pretty much the same thing – they give you a way to run programs and work with your computer.
So, next time someone is talking about his OS, you’ll be able to give the nod of understanding that only comes from knowing your acronyms.
