A reader commented on the article I wrote about Android battery issues, saying that I should have recommended a battery-saving app. The problem with that is that I really don’t suggest that you use a battery-saving app. I actually think they can often be more trouble than they are worth.
And many of the ones you find in app stores actually have malware or adware associated with them.
If you are experiencing battery drain, my suggestion is to make sure to turn off things like WiFi and Bluetooth when you aren’t using them.
Go to the Power saving mode under settings. You can limit the CPU performance and the brightness of the screen to save power.
Other things to try: Consider lowering the time before the screen times out. You can also turn off mobile data to keep applications from updating in the background. If you’re using live wallpapers, consider switching to a still. Also,turn off GPS when not in use.
