A reader is having an issue viewing Amazon Prime Video on a Surface RT tablet. When he tries to download the Prime Video app, he runs into difficulties: “I am in the Windows Store. It says: “Available instantly on compatible devices.” “This mobile application does not currently support digital downloads. Add this item to your Wish List and you can view and purchase it from your computer.”
Unfortunately, the problem you’re seeing is because of the RT operating system. While you can find the app for other Windows tablets, PCs and phones, there isn’t one available that works with the RT operating system. Microsoft gave up on RT devices fairly quickly, opting instead to put a full version of Windows on tablets. That means companies like Amazon aren’t going to take the time to develop or support apps.
One possibility is to use Internet Explorer to view videos through Amazon’s browser interface.
