This is so cool! I had to share it with you as soon as possible. It’s a map of the wind!
Created as a personal art project, you can check out how the wind flows in real-time. I think it is really amazing how many different directions the wind can blow all across the nation at the same time. Dorky, I know. This also gives amazing insight into how we could harness wind for a source of energy.
When you go to the site, you’ll notice a time and date in the top left corner of the page, it shows the last time that the map data was recently refreshed. Beneath that you’ll find the top speed, average speed, and a key to the map.
While the active map is cool, I really loved the Gallery. There you can see snapshots of the wind map from the past. It was very interesting to me to see how tropical storms and hurricanes affect the wind from coast to coast.
Well, what are you waiting for? You need to go see it for yourself!
