Windows 10: Importing, Creating, And Sharing Themes Part 2

Wednesday, March 8th, 2017 by | Filed Under: Uncategorized

Yesterday, we learned how to change the themes in Windows. Today, we’re going learn how to create your own themes.

To create your own themes, you need to place a number of wallpapers in a folder and select that folder via the “Personalization” window. To do this, you will need to create a new folder by right clicking in the file explorer > New > New folder, then give your folder a name and press enter:

You should then download a few wallpapers from the Internet and place them all in that folder. Click here to learn how.

The last thing you now have to do is turn that folder into a theme. To do this, you either have to create a new theme by resaving an existing one or edit the “unsaved theme” if you have one:

Now select the theme you just made or the Unsaved Theme you already had and click the Desktop Background option in the bottom of the window:

This should open a new window where you can change numerous things like how long each wallpaper is visible before it changes and if the pictures are shuffled for a more random effect. Click the Browse button and select the folder filled with your wallpapers:

Now go back to the “Personalization” window, save your theme and you are done! You can also change the color, screensaver and sounds or share your theme by right-clicking on it and selecting the “Save theme for sharing” option. It saves your theme as a file you can then e-mail to your friends and family.

That was everything you need to know about themes to get started creating your own or importing other’s. You can even share your work with anyone you know to give them the opportunity to enjoy this creative feature of Windows. Have fun!
