A reader wrote to us with a long list of concerns about Windows 10.:
1. What to do if some programs do not run (e.g. Tata Photon device) smoothly on windows 10. 2. Which programs do not support windows 10. 3. I have more than 250 desktops in which OS is Windows 7 or 8. Should I upgrade to windows 10 without any fear? 4. I have some systems with OS windows 8. Should I upgrade these systems to 8.1 before upgrading to windows 10 or there is any shortcut. 5. Is there any shortcut to avoid getting update for windows 10 and update OS 8 to 8.1 each and every system. 6. Any precautions before upgrading to windows 10.
You can check program compatibility fairly easily. Click here for the steps.
You can also check with customer support for the company that makes the programs or peripherals that you’re concerned about. If you have 250 desktops, I’ll assume you’re a business. Hopefully you have an IT person on staff. If not, consider hiring someone to guide you through the transition.
If you want to to upgrade through Windows update, you will need to upgrade to 8.1 first. Before updating, make sure that you have backed up all of your important files.
