Way back in the day we ran a tip on how to make your Windows XP folders more interesting with pictures. Well, what about Windows 7? Here’s the scoop, tip lovers!
In Windows 7, simply right-click on the folder you want to customize and select Properties.

Now, make sure you’re under the Customize tab and click the Choose File… button, under Folder Pictures.

Choose the picture you’d like displayed in your folder icon and click Open. Now click OK, and take a look at your newly customized folder icon!

If you ever want to go back, simply follow these steps and click the Restore Default button!

great tip. so glad i saw it. thanks
I tried this tip and it seems that if you make a folder and what you have in the folder will deternine what icon you will have to choose. If you want to change the folder to an icon it works. If you want a picture icon to show in the folder it is not available to all folders. I was wondering if that has to with what your computer is allowing you to choose. I did not have the choices you showed in the tip for my folder. Please explain further for me.
Thank yo

I tried this on my Windows 7 but their was no customize button. It looked like fun.
Tip worked on a folder on my desktop but not within Windows Explorer displayed folders. Not sure if I am doing something wrong but followed the instructions on each occassion without success
