According to research by Netmarketshare, Windows 7 is still the favorite operating system for desktops, holding strong on 47% of the PCs in use.
Windows 10 is in the number 2 position, currently running on 21% of PCs. Surprisingly, Windows XP is in third place running on over just 10% of PCs. This is concerning since security support for Windows XP systems ended over two years ago and these devices are vulnerable to all manner of security threats.
It looks as if a good portion of Windows 10 converts came from Windows 8.1, with that OS dropping to less than 8% of the market.
Mac devices make up just around 5% of desktop and laptop computers in use with Linux at 2.33%.
If you were wondering about poor Windows Vista, it’s found on just over 1% of computers.
