I’m sure most of you have heard about Windows 7 by now, but just in case you haven’t, I’m here to fill you in! Just recently, I started hearing about Windows 7 more and more, so I figured today would be a good time to tell you all a little more about it. It seems like there’s a new story about it online everyday, so it’s obvious that the hype about it is escalating very rapidly. So, what do you say we join the Windows 7 mania?!
First of all, Windows 7 is the current name for the next version of Windows from Microsoft. Yep, that’s right, they’re already working on another operating system to follow Windows Vista. When Microsoft first started talking about it, they named it Blackcomb and even Vienna, but they have settled on Windows 7 (which I think sounds much better anyway!) As of right now, Microsoft is planning a 2010 release, but there are rumors flying that it will be out by the end of 2009 as well.
Microsoft is keeping a tight lip about what Windows 7 will offer, but I can give you a few pieces of information. For one, they are promising both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, which is always nice. There’s also word about a new Internet Explorer 8 version for the desktop and it’s going to include several new features for sharing and synchronizing. It’s also going to have a newly redesigned backup feature and a few new Control Panel options. That all sounds good to me, how about you?! Of course, I will continue to keep you updated as new information is revealed, but until then, I’ll leave you to dream about what Windows 7 will bring!
