Is there a timer on Windows 8 that shuts down after a period of time? Is there timer like my screen saver has? If so how can I extend the time period?
Hazel, Sounds like your computer is going to sleep when you walk away. Fortunately, it’s a fairly easy setting to adjust. In the Search Box in the Charms Bar, you’ll need to select Settings and type in Sleep.
Change when the computer sleeps should come up as the result. Click or tap on that result.
You’ll get a window with options on when to dim the display turn off the display or put the computer to sleep. You can adjust them to suit your needs and then select Save Changes.
