The Windows Nook App is getting a big update along with a big discount for users. The update to the app was released June 26 and has a whole new look.
Barnes and Noble promised faster performance and added features such as highlighting , annotations, dictionary look-up and find in books. The improved search will function like the Windows 8 search (what I think is the best feature of the operating system) Users will only have to type in a few letters to be presented with results in their library and the online Nook store.
Users will also now be able to sideload ePub and PDF files from their computers.
Users can now sign in using their Microsoft account to shop.
They will be able to sample any Nook book for free. Windows app customers will also receive 50% off selected bestselling Nook books and magazines for a limited time. Among the discounted titles were Outliers: The Story of Success, Freakonomics, Bitter Brew: The Rise and Fall of Anheuser-Busch and America’s Kings of Beer, The Hit and Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV, National Geographic, Us Weekly, Rolling Stone, Men’s Health and WIRED.
