Created by Kate Davies and Felicity Ford, Wovember is an annual celebration of wool during the month of November. What I love about this site is its dedication to wool and the entire process of its production. I learned so much about wool here that I couldn’t wait to share it with you.
As a knitter, I’m mostly familiar with merino wool (be it regular or superwash) – as a spinner my eyes were opened to the wide variety of different kinds of wool out there like BFL, Rambouillet, Polwarth, Cheviot to name a few. Each spins a little differently creates a different kind of yarn. So be prepared to learn a lot about sheep, sheep shearing, and wool on this site.
In addition to that information you can also check out the Sounds of Wool section to listen to interviews/information about wool and the process of making it with sheep and equipment in the background. What does wool production sound like? How does it work? You can even pick up a ringtone of sheep Baa-ing.
Other than that navigation is simple blog style, just scroll down and peruse. If you want to check out other 100% wool blogs scroll to the bottom of the page and check out the blogs under that title.
