WS App Review: Dual Level

How many times have you needed a bubble level and didn’t have one handy? Hanging a picture and want to make sure it’s level? Want to see if something at a store is ok or bowed? Need to level your camera to take a landscape or group photo? Figure out an angle to see if something will fit? Well, Dual Level from Geometry uses the phone’s built-in gyroscope to provide a dual bubble level right on your phone’s screen.

The great thing about this app is how simple it is to use. You calibrate the app by placing the phone on a known flat level surface and press the calibrate button. You repeat the calibration turning the phone on the side and click calibrate and you’re done. You will now get bubble levels and exact degree measurements.

What’s not to love? Well unfortunately the iPhone is only accurate to within about 1.5 degrees, so if you’re planning on building a house or laying structural steel, I’d recommend buying a good professional level. The app also features only the basic functionality of a level and doesn’t allow you to mark angles or set the bubble to a specific angle (such as 45 degrees for corners.)
