XP Forever

I am still using XP and will continue to use it even though Microsoft bailed out. They just keep upgrading to make more MONEY. I can do everything I want to with my XP. I have two computers with XP with all of the items I want, OR I know where to get what I want. I will get rid of whatever they have on a new computer and transfer my XP from the old one to the new with PCmover. have already done this with 2 different computers. ALL the new Microsoft upgrades i HATE. I bought a new computer for my wife and it has VISTA. What a piece of JUNK! It doesn’t compare with XP to the minutest degree.

To be fair, Vista came out 8 years ago and Windows 7 and 8.1 are far more stable operating systems.  But I understand that you love your XP and I don’t mind if you keep it and move it on to new computers. But you should not go online with XP.  It isn’t safe and you could end up having important information compromised or losing that wonderful set-up where you have everything organized the way you want it.  Here’s an article with some suggestions for staying safer with XP.

I am (or was for 25 years) a software engineer. I ran Vista Premium for many years and had NO issues with it. My Sister was an engineer even longer than I and she also ran Vista for a long time.

I just think that the Vista and up nay-sayers are stuck in a comfort zone and don’t want to change. There are so many more feaatures with Vista, 7 extc. that there are with XP. I am now running the Windows 10 Technical Preview Evaluation Copy, Buid 9879. I am a Stock Trader and have been using WIN10 for about 4 months now error free for my trading. I LOVE what they have done with marrying the 8.1 an 7 interfaces together. And, the app library is just growing by leaps and bounds.

During my eraly programming days, I hated MS! Wouldn’t use them for nothing, used linux. I have never worhed for MS as well. I am now 71 years old and still I find the WIN10 user experience second to none.

I am so tired of people stuck on XP and blaming microsoft of greed for the reason they keep coming up with new OSs every few years. I guess it does come down to money because it does cost them a lot to keep XP stable, but I think more it comes with new technology and features that the users need and want. I’m still not 100% in love with 8 but when I used 7 for the first time coming from XP I was sold! What a better user experience with so many more tools. Go ahead and upgrade…I guarantee you’ll forget all about XP in the first week.

It sounds like someone is just trying to start a fight. Anyone familiar with computers, especially if they are a regular reader of this newsletter, should be aware of why operating systems are upgraded, and the risks of running an unsupported operating system. I also used Vista, and while it wasn’t the best OS I ever ran, it still did everything I wanted/needed to do. Having upgraded to Win 7, I like it much better, and will also upgrade to version 10, once Win 7 is no longer supported, or when I find the need to buy a new computer.

I agree with Tom. I have Vista on my laptop and always loved the improvements from XP. My wife and I have 7 Home Premium on our desk tops. I have recently fixed some old computers for friends with XP on them and OMG I look at that out dated operating system and I could never give up on the improvements in Windows 7.

I didn’t get with Windows 8 or 8.1 but am looking forward to Windows 10. I notice Torrence doesn’t name anything in particular he doesn’t like about the newer operating systems which leads me to believe if Torrence had Windows 95 he would have held onto that and wouldn’t have anything to do with Windows 98 or XP.

I have known people who couldn’t comprehend some of the newer technology and instead of asking for help they just got mad and said it was junk. I feel sorry for these people because they are being left behind. When their XP computers become infected from going on line they are going to be even more upset when they find they’ve lost everything and there’s no support for them and their old computers. What I find really surprising is that anyone who reads WorldStart’s articles could write a letter such as the one Torrence sent.

Keep up the good work Steve, Tim, Gary, Cynthia and the rest of the gang at WorldStart. I look forward to reading your articles everyday. Everyone I know says how computer savvy I am, I tell them I’ve learned almost everything from your e-mails.

I agree with this guy. Although I never used Vista. But I have Win7 and now have 8.1. No matter what XP was still a better system. A million times better than 8.1 for sure!!! The more I use it the less I like it. I am afraid that Microsoft is so gung ho on 8 that their 10 will not be an improvement at all.
