YouTube has updated its look this year! Let’s talk about some other ways you can manage your account while using it. After you are signed in, click on “My Account” under your account name on the top right-hand corner of the page. As you can see, also located on the right-hand corner, you can check your inbox messages, subscriptions, history, as well as upload videos by clicking on the yellow “Upload” button.
Under the YouTube logo on the top left-hand corner of the page, it says “My Account” in bold letters. Under this webpage heading, there are four subtitles: Videos, Insight, Messages, and Settings. Let’s explore these four page divisions.
When you click on Videos, this brings you to a page called “Uploaded Videos,” which displays all the videos you have uploaded onto YouTube under your username. Here you can sort and organize your videos, delete any videos, or upload videos!
The next subtitle is Insight. When you click on Insight, it brings you to a completely new page that displays an overall summary of all your uploaded videos. This includes the number of views, demographics, subscribers, and popularity—how popular your video is compared to others by different users! This is a really neat and new feature that even allows you to pick locations on the map of the world to see how the demographics line up and what parts of the world have the most views for your videos.
The third subtitle is Messages. When you click on this, it brings you to your Inbox, which you can also access by clicking on the mini envelope icon located on the top right-hand corner of the page. This page allows you to view your personal messages, messages from others that have been shared with you, personal comments shared with you, friend invites, video responses, and your sent messages. There is also an Address Book feature you can use to help organize your page if you need to!
The fourth subtitle is Settings, which brings you back to your main Overview page. On this page, you can view your number of uploaded videos, favorites, channel views, and subscribers. This is your main navigating page for all your needs and purposes – this is where you can access profile setup, customize your homepage, set your privacy settings, manage your account and more! These features have been covered in previous YouTube tutorials! Happy YouTube-ing!
